ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — New York state biologists will discuss Lake Ontario’s alewife population and the salmon and trout fisheries it supports at a series of public meetings.
The meetings will be held in November in Oswego, Niagara and Monroe counties and online.
Alewife are small fish eaten by salmon and trout in Lake Ontario, especially Chinook salmon. At the meetings, biologists will present the latest science to guide trout and salmon stocking levels for 2020.
Meetings will be held Nov. 6 at Rochester Institute of Technology, Nov. 7 at Pulaski High School, Nov. 13 at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Lockport and Nov. 14 online.
