Lead Talent: Christy McDonald

Christy McDonald has been working with Detroit Public Television throughout 2011, serving as moderator of a series of community conversations promoting voter engagement and serving as the principal anchor of DPTV’s coverage of the Mackinac Policy Conference in June.

An Emmy Award winning journalist, McDonald was an anchor and reporter for WXYZ-TV in Detroit from 2000 through 2010. She specialized in breaking news, politics and in-depth coverage. She has anchored continuous election night coverage and focused on interviews with politicians and newsmakers.

She began her career as a news writer and producer at two Detroit television stations and later worked as an anchor and reporter at WJRT-TV in Flint. She is a graduate of Michigan State University and a native of Troy, Michigan.

    I watched you speak on PBS channel. I just liked your commentary on Detriot’s city wows. My daughter lives on the outshirks of Detroit, I live in Orange, New Jersey. I speak with my daughter
    from time to time and often addresses the problems of the city. You layed out everything very
    nicely. Hands clapping for you!
